On the Measurement of Ships up to 40000 International Gross Tonnage having no Suez Canal Tonnage certificate or having Certificates without Calculation sheets
​​​​​​To achieve the desire of shipowners to lighten the burden of transit dues collection from ships up to 40000 I.G.T. that do not forward SC Tonnage certificate or forward certificates without calculation sheets based on gross tonnage, the SCA has decided the following :​

Article One

A- Para (F) item (1), article 96 of S.C Rules of Navigation edition August 2015 will be amended to be :-

Ships up to 40000 I.G.T. that do not forward Sc Tonnage Certificate or forward a certificate without calculation sheets on the canal first transit, shall be measured by SC surveyors, upon owner’s desire and collect transit dues on the basis of net tonnage not gross tonnage.

B- A shipowner wishing to measure and pay transit dues on the basis of net tonnage, shall present an application enough time before transit to the SCA through his agency stating his willingness to pay additional dues of US 4000 for the measurement, subject that drawings are available for measuring.

C- Ships measured by SCA surveyors, shall be given a tonnage statement as per the attached form. (to view the form Click here)
