DAMIETTA: 31.29N.31.45E. LOCATION: Damietta Port is located on the estuary on the River Nile,
approximately 70Km. West of Port Said and 250Km. East of Alexandria. Access is via an entrance channel from the North which is 11km .long and 300m. wide, reducing to 250m. when approaching the breakwaters. This
channel is marked by 18 buoys. Depth is 15m. The port is linked to the River Nile by a navigational channel which is 4.5 km .long, 90m. wide and 5.0m.deep.

Travel Licence sealed by Marine Inspection and Control Department. PILOTAGE : Compulsory for all vessels over 300 G.R.T. Vessels proceeding to Damietta Port are to inform Damietta Port Authority
by cable 7 days and 24 hours before their arrival. On arriving at the waiting area, the Master must call the Pilot Station by VHF Channel 16 and advise time of arrival, draft, length, cargo, etc. Vessels are advised to
approach through the Northwestern side of the waiting area Vessels are not allowed to approach the Access Channel without a Pilot on board . ANCHORAGE : The Waiting Area is located about 11 km. North
of the port entrance and is marked by 5 light buoys. APPROACHES : The Entrance Channel is 11km. in length, 250m.-300m. wide and has a depth of 15.0 m. MAX. SIZE: The port can receive vessels up to
250 m. LOA, with draft 12.5m. for bulk and container vessels, and draft 11.0m. for general cargo vessels. HEALTH: Usual International Health regulations are to be observed. RADIO/VHF:
Port Authority on VHF Channel 16 throughout 24 hours, working on Channel 14. TUGS: 4 tugs of 1,500 h.p.- 2,200 h.p. available. Tug Requirements : Vessels up to 122m. require 1 tug.
Vessels over 122 m. require 2 tugs. A third tug is available at Master's request. Ship's lines used on departure. BERTHING:
Berths No. 1-4: For container vessels- Length 250m. each and depth 14.5m. Berths No. 5-8 :For dry bulk and general cargo vessels- Length 200m. each and depth 12m.
Berths No 9-12:For general cargo- Length 200m.each and depth 12.5m. Berths No.13-14:For bulk grain carriers- Length 300m.each and depth 14.5m. Ro-Ro berths : At Berth No. 1and Berth No.8.

containers of 40 tons each operated by Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Co. (DCHC). 1 X 30 ton telescopic crane . 3 x 40 ton mobile cranes . Cargo Gear owned by DPA: 33 forklifts 3-5 tonnes capacity and
one lift and transport loader . Cargo gear owned by DCHC: 13 trucks ( 180-210 h.p.), 19 top-lifters ranging form 15-40 tonnes and 9 forklifts 3-10 tonnes. 96 Reefer points. BULK HANDLING FACILITIES:
Silo with total capacity of 100,000 tons of grains. Two berths are devoted to serve the silo and can accommodate vessels up to 80,000 d.w.t.
Two automated , mobile extractors with a capacity of 700 tons/hr. each. Means of extracting grains from the silo by trucks, cargo trains, and river barges.
5,000 sq.m. shed to pack grain in sacks at a capacity of 3,000 tons/day. Computerised and remote control for all loading, transport, and extracting operations.
Electronic and ground scales for outgoing and incoming grains. BRIDGES: None. STEVEDORES: Stevedoring undertaken by Load and Discharge Co. which is affiliated to DCHC. MEDICAL :
Hospitals available at Ras el Barr ( 6 Km.) and Damietta (8Km). Inoculations and vaccinations can be carried out. Advance notice only required in an emergency . FRESH WATER: Available at berths. FUEL
: All grades available by barge . CONSULS: At Port Said . REPAIRS: Minor repairs undertaken by Damietta Port Authority. SURVEYORS: Lloyd's and ABS. CUSTOMS ALLOWANCES: 200
